The survey questions were selected by Quantum Market Research, an independent research firm, to evaluate each company’s work environment and find out how “engaged” employees are at their company. Research shows that attitudes of employees can have a direct effect on a company’s bottom line. Companies with employees who feel they are fully engaged and valued in their work tend to have better results than those companies with dissatisfied employees.

The competition was based on the opinions of the employees through a survey (you participated in) based on questions that relate to nine (9) themes:

• Retention Risk
• Alignment with Goals
• Trust with Co-workers
• Individual Contribution
• Manager Effectiveness
• Trust in Senior Leaders
• Feeling Valued
• Work Engagement

The participants were divided up into six (6) different categories by size of local WNY employment:

• Micro (10-20 employees)
• Small (21-50 employees)
• Medium (51-100 employees) ... ATSI's category
• Large (101-150 employees)
• X-Large (151-400 employees)
• Jumbo (401 and more employees)
